Priya Patricia Maria Fernandes, affectionately known as Priya Miss or Priya Ma’am by her students, has coached ICSE students since 2002.
She possesses extensive experience and expertise in training ICSE and IGCSE students for over 15 years. Her teaching career began at the age of 17 when she initially offered tutoring services for extra income during her college days. This endeavor eventually became her lifelong vocation. Priya completed her B.Sc. in Physics with Instrumentation and M.Sc. in Physics with a specialization in Electronics and Microcomputers from D.G. Ruparel College – Mumbai University. Additionally, she pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Xavier’s Institute of Communication. Fueled by her passion and commitment to teaching as a lifelong calling, she also obtained a B.Ed. Degree from Mumbai University.

At the age of 20, Ms. Priya established her first coaching centre with a friend. Subsequently, she taught at various schools, including Don Bosco High School in Dombivali, Jindal Vidya Mandir in Vasind, and Lilavatibai Podar Senior Secondary School – ICSE. Throughout her tenure, she progressed from being a Physics and Mathematics teacher to becoming the Head of the Physics and Science Department, eventually assuming the role of Vice Principal. In 2013, she founded and became the Director of Risa Education Academy in Santacruz, which provides coaching to ICSE and IGCSE students in grades 6 to 10. From 2017 to 2023, she served as the Head of School at Rose Manor International School – IGCSE in Santacruz. Priya actively participated in educational conferences, sharing her knowledge and expertise, and received recognition and awards both personally and on behalf of the institutions she worked for. She also contributed significantly to various youth development programs.

Apart from being a dedicated Physics teacher, Priya enjoys singing, dancing, and theater. She is also a professional compere and hosts various events. Teaching Physics is her passion, and despite her busy schedule leading different institutions, she continued to coach her students. According to her, one cannot learn Physics by rote memorization or simply relying on ready-made question-and-answer materials. It requires critical thinking, analysis, and introspection of every aspect. In her own words, “All teachers should view teaching as a vocation, not merely a means to earn money. We are shaping future citizens and are fortunate to be called to this vocation. Let’s take our responsibility seriously, fearlessly correct the wrong, motivate the weak, and be a pillar of support for our students. While we may have many students, for a student, there is only us.”
